Sustainability Pioneers, produced by Kirsi Jansa, is a Southwestern Pennsylvania-based series of short documentaries visualizing a bridge from our fossil-fuel based economy to an economy based on renewable energy and sustainable living. It is funded by The Heinz Endowments and The Fisher Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation. It is produced in collaboration with The Institute for Green Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
Gas Rush Story series began in 2011 by exploring the issue of shale gas drilling from the perspective of people critical towards drilling. In the first three Gas Rush Stories two farmers, a public health advocate and citizens of Allegheny county express their concerns related to shale gas drilling. The fourth Gas Rush Story is about money and politics. The fifth chapter deals with the air emissions coming from the gas industry and tells a story of a neighbor who lives next to a compressor station. Gas Rush Story part six shows how gas drilling is changing the landscape in south-western Pennsylvania. A private pilot takes Gas Rush Stories for a flight over Butler county and Washington county. New Gas Rush Stories will broaden the view on shale gas drilling. People who have benefited from the shale gas industry will also be able to tell their side of the story. One of the stories will be filmed in Europe.
